TAG Heuer presents the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT

Fernando Aldea

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 now travels through time: Meet the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT, a new vision of the luxury tool watch that is designed to push the limits, anywhere, anytime.

For absolute clarity and legibility, the 24-hour GMT scale is engraved into the ceramic and then filled with contrasting colors: black for day and white for night. In pursuit of maximum quality and legibility, no detail has been overlooked. For example, the numerals 18 and 6 are broken at the point where the blue and white ceramic meet, yet the color reversal continues seamlessly through both numerals.

The GMT hand, which completes a full revolution around the dial once every 24 hours and is adjusted via the crown, is finished in yellow lacquer and tipped with luminous material. The result is a highly legible GMT wristwatch, conceived and designed for the urban adventurer who, in pursuing a life on the waves, always pushes the limits.

And then there's the two-tone, bidirectional rotating bezel, cast in highly scratch- and fade-resistant ceramic. To distinguish between day and night, it's cast in two colors: half in a deep midnight blue to match the dial and represent the nighttime hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.; and half in bright white to represent the daytime hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The story of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 continues. Since its relaunch last year, TAG Heuer's luxury tool watch has rewritten the design and performance codes of the brand's sports watches, pushing its wearers beyond their limits in pursuit of ever-greater performance.

Now comes another new chapter with a clean and colorful take on the GMT function. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT is the ultimate go-anywhere watch, a powerful yet highly versatile design built for crossing time zones, diving, and surfing around the world.

All day and all night

In addition to its confident, steely shape, what most stands out about the new Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT is its elegant blue, yellow, and white color palette. TAG Heuer designers carefully selected these casual hues to represent the sky, the sun, the water, and the waves breaking near the shore. These colors also make the watch the perfect everyday companion for surfers and divers who travel the world in search of the perfect surf break and the most spectacular underwater habitats.

The imposing and distinctive dial continues its characteristic horizontal lines and is a deep midnight blue, offset by luminous white hands and hour markers. The rhodium-plated central seconds hand has a yellow lacquer tip and a luminous insert designed to inform divers that the watch is running during a dive.

New colors, same high-performance architecture

Beyond these fresh, dynamic details and the addition of a second time zone, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT maintains the same form and functionality of the automatic watch introduced last year.

The instantly recognizable 12-sided bezel remains the one that links the Aquaracer Professional family to previous generations. And as before, every other facet has a knurled edge so the wearer can grip and adjust the bezel with ease and confidence. The crown remains screwed down and protected, and the 43 mm case still offers 300 meters of water resistance.

Followers of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer's history will recognize how these details align with the six signature features introduced in the 1980s and perpetuated in the original 2004 model: a unidirectional rotating bezel; a screw-down crown; water resistance to at least 200 meters; luminous markings; a sapphire crystal; and a double safety clasp.

Like the core of the watch, the case back is cast in steel, decorated with a repeating hexagonal motif and the famous diving helmet that also first appeared on the Aquaracer case in 2004. Another symbol of the exacting attention to detail applied to the new Aquaracer Professional family of watches is that they have been designed so that the case back is square, meaning that the helmet is always in a vertical position.

One watch, two looks: two different strap styles

The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT comes on a stainless steel metal bracelet or a midnight blue rubber strap matching the dial and bezel. Both feature TAG Heuer's ergonomic fine-tuning system, allowing the watch to be easily adjusted to fit over a wetsuit and back, or simply to accommodate changes in comfort as temperatures rise or fall. The watch's designers have taken pains to follow in Jack Heuer's footsteps to ensure optimal legibility for this maritime timepiece.

Powered by the timeless Caliber 7 GMT automatic

With all these aesthetic details, each chosen to maximize the watch's performance, the new Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT also needed an ultra-reliable movement. Therefore, inside the watch is TAG Heuer's Calibre 7, a Swiss-made automatic movement with a power reserve of up to 50 hours. It also provides the watch with its date function, centered at 6 o'clock and displayed under a "Cyclops" magnifying glass.
