This unique orientation was designed to prevent accidental actuation of the pushers, as well as emulating the look of a dashboard-mounted timer, ideal for motorsports enthusiasts. Born in 1973, the Seiko Bullhead embodies an era of progression and global fascination with motorsports. The reference 6138-0040 we stock at LOFT is the brown-dial variant, produced alongside a black/blue version. Both models were sold until 1979, the year that also marked the end of production of the 6138 automatic chronograph movement. This watch is a marvel of asymmetry, with a case whose thickness and lug width vary from top to bottom. But don't worry, despite its 44 x 45 mm case diameter, this "bovine" is quite wearable. Yes, it's heavy, a bit unbalanced, and takes some getting used to, but it has an undeniable charm. It includes the original Seiko bracelet, nicknamed "Fishbone" for its central "spine" of vertical links that create a network of horizontal "scales." This model features a case in very good condition, with the factory brushed and mirrored finish still visible. The crystal is made of original domed acrylic. Its brown dial with gold subdial has an incredible luminous patina, and the original hands show slight aging on the luminescence.
