In 2015, Rolex updated the Oyster Perpetual line with a new 39mm size option, expanding the series again three years later, and along the way creating a cult classic following for its simple, sublime design and "sweet spot" size. In late 2020, Rolex discontinued the Oyster Perpetual 39 and introduced the larger OP in the brand's now standard 41mm size. Quite simply, it features an Oystersteel case and bracelet with an Oysterclasp, plus three white gold hands without a date window, applied white gold markers and a crown on the finely executed dial, a Twinlock screw-down crown, and a gleaming blue Chromalight. The watch also lacks some of Rolex’s visual signatures, such as a fluted bezel or a date window and the subsequent Cyclops, so it feels aesthetically refreshing against stereotypical ideas of what a Rolex can and cannot be. Inside the Oyster Perpetual 39 is Rolex's COSC-certified self-winding calibre 3132, which offers a 48-hour power reserve and features Rolex's patented Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock protection system. It's a cross between sporty and elegant, and isn't afraid to draw attention with its perfect proportions and subtle strength.
