A chronograph with the reliability of Spring Drive. This model, Grand Seiko's first chronograph, is powered by Grand Seiko's exclusive Spring Drive caliber, which combines the driving force of a mainspring with the high precision of a quartz watch. The Spring Drive mechanism allows the watch to maintain accurate timekeeping while incorporating precise chronograph capabilities, all with a maximum power reserve of 72 hours (3 days). The original Grand Seiko glide movement also appears in the blued steel chronograph seconds hand. The chronograph uses a preparation/start button with a half-press release, reducing errors and enabling precise starting. The button has been designed with ease of use in mind and produces a satisfying click with just the right amount of resistance.
