Rolex acquires Bucherer: A partnership that marks the history of watchmaking

On August 24, 2023, Geneva witnessed an announcement that will resonate throughout the watchmaking industry: Rolex has decided to acquire Bucherer. This decision not only reflects Rolex's desire to perpetuate Bucherer's success, but also to preserve a relationship that has flourished since 1924.
Bucherer, more than just a watch retailer, has been a mainstay in the watchmaking world. With more than 100 points of sale worldwide, including in countries such as Switzerland, the United States, England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Austria, it has established its mark in the sector. Of these points of sale, 53 distribute Rolex and 48 Tudor. Furthermore, Bucherer not only sells watches but also offers official after-sales services for both brands, with workshops that employ highly qualified watchmakers trained in-house.
The shared history between Rolex and Bucherer is deep and meaningful. Bucherer has been an official retailer of the Rolex manufacture since 1924. The professional relationship, bonds of friendship, and mutual respect have endured to this day. In fact, Jörg Bucherer is the last active person to have met and worked with Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. Despite the acquisition, Jörg will remain as honorary chairman of the Bucherer group.
It's important to note that, despite this acquisition, Bucherer will retain its name and continue to operate independently. The group's management team will remain unchanged, and Bucherer's integration into the Rolex group will become effective once the transaction is approved by competition authorities.
