Q&A: Stefano Massu
LOFTStefano Massú isn't just a great person; he's a great friend of LOFT. As such, he was willing to do a photo shoot for our team, wearing several of the watches currently available in our online store . He was also available to answer several questions we asked about the world of watches and, of course, tennis , his greatest passion, to which he dedicates much of his time, on and off the court, in Chile and abroad.

LOFT: What do you think about the tendency of some tennis players to wear their watches during matches, such as Rafa Nadal and Serena Williams?
Stefano: I think that aside from a commercial agreement, it's also very personal. Tennis players are perfectionists, and if it bothered them or made them uncomfortable while playing, even if it was a very good contract, they wouldn't take it. So if they take it, it's because they really like it and it suits them.
LOFT: Do you consider yourself a style-conscious man? What accessories are essential to your look?
Stefano: Yes, I'm a person who cares about my image. I think a person's appearance is important; it says a lot about them, for better or worse. I'm not much for accessories, except for a watch for important occasions.
LOFT: Why do you think a traditional sport like tennis has such a connection with the world of watchmaking?
Stefano: Tennis is the most beautiful sport in the world. It's a white sport, a gentleman's sport, so the elegance of the sport goes hand in hand with watches. Especially at Wimbledon , you see the players in white, wearing watches; it's a very elegant image.
LOFT: Watches are known for being passed down from one generation to the next, carrying the memory of the loved one who wore it before you. Is there a watch in your family that's a family heirloom and might end up on your wrist at some point?
Stefano: Yes, my maternal grandfather, who is from Hungary, had a Rolex that he bought in the 1960s on one of his trips to Switzerland.
LOFT: You never forget your first watch. What was your first watch? When and who gave it to you?
Stefano: My first watch was a Baume & Mercier. My family gave it to me when I graduated from university.
LOFT: Do you have any anecdotes about someone on the tennis circuit or a celebrity who has a connection with a particular watch?
Stefano: I don't have any, unfortunately. Hahaha.
