GPHG Awards 2021
LOFTLast Thursday, November 4th, the winners of the 2021 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) were announced, an essential event that this year brought us some great surprises.
The list of the eagerly awaited 2021 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève awards was revealed last Thursday, November 4th, during a festive ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the GPHG . Poetically introduced by Edouard Baer, the ceremony honored excellence and creativity in contemporary watchmaking by presenting 19 awards to the winners announced by the 30-member jury headed by Nick Foulkes.
Bulgari received the "Best in Show" distinction, the Grand Prix "Aiguille d'Or" , for its Octo Finissimo watch. The brands Audemars Piguet, Bernhard Lederer, Chopard, Christiaan Van Der Klaauw, CIGA Design, De Bethune, Furlan Marri, Grand Seiko, Louis Vuitton, MB&F, Piaget, Tudor, Van Cleef & Arpels and Zenith were also recognized by the jury and the GPHG Academy for the quality of their creations in several categories. The Special Jury Prize , which honors an influential personality or institution in the watchmaking world, was won this year by Dubai Watch Week.
The watches nominated for 2021, including the 18 laureates, will be on display at the Musée Rath in Geneva until 14 November 2021, and to mark its 20th anniversary, the GPHG is also inviting visitors to discover, as part of this exceptional exhibition, the 20 watches that won the “Aiguille d'Or” Grand Prix between 2001 and 2020. This year’s award-winning watches will then be presented during Dubai Watch Week , from 24 to 28 November, and then in Paris from 2 to 5 December.
