Portugieser Chronograph with in-house caliber and transparent caseback

Last January, IWC Schaffhausen presented a revamped version of the Portugieser Chronograph. The iconic design remains unchanged. However, inside, a high-quality movement from the 69000 caliber family, manufactured in-house by IWC, now ticks, visible through the transparent caseback.

Not without reason, the Portugieser Chronograph has established itself as one of the most popular watches to emerge from the Schaffhausen manufactory. Its open, clean, and functional dial, featuring two integrated totalizers at 6 and 12 o'clock, applied Arabic numerals, and slender feuilleton hands, is surrounded by a filigree bezel. The bezel flange, with a printed quarter-second scale, allows for precise reading of the chronometer times and adds a subtle sporty touch to this timeless Portugieser model.

On the outside, the iconic design of the new models, grouped under the reference 3716 , remains unchanged. The decisive innovation lies inside the watch: the calibre 69355 , an IWC manufacture movement, guarantees precise timekeeping and indication. The robust, high-precision chronograph movement, with a classic column-wheel design, can be seen through the transparent caseback. Thanks to an automatic winding system with a ratchet wheel, it has a 46-hour power reserve.

Six different versions are available in 18-karat red gold or stainless steel. The stainless steel models come equipped with the innovative butterfly folding clasp, which is particularly comfortable to wear.
