Product description

First launched in 2016, the IW5009 is a contemporary, thoroughbred pilot's watch, featuring consciously modern design choices and endlessly useful functionality, all while maintaining the fundamentals of what makes an IWC special. Measuring 46 mm in width, legibility clearly remains the primary focus of this model, with a scaled-down dial architecture.

From its gorgeous beveling to its attractive dial design, there's no mistaking this watch for anything other than an IWC. The watch features crisp, white Arabic numerals that leverage a soft, rounded, almost casual font style—the first sign that this is a departure from the norm. However, the two most familiar features of this watch (excluding those iconic, larger-than-life, lume-drenched sword-shaped hands) are, of course, the power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock and the uniquely framed date window at 6 o'clock... Unlike other watchmaking partnerships that seem forced or inauthentic, the one between Omega and James Bond simply works. It's a genuine relationship that dates back to the 1995 requests of the "GoldenEye" costume department for a watch that reflected Bond's military background. Given Omega's historic relationship as a supplier to the British Armed Forces, the brand was a natural fit, and a professional-grade Seamaster has graced the wrist of James Bond, from Pierce Brosnan in 1995 to Daniel Craig today.

This model, ref. 2221.80.00, is very similar to the “GoldenEye” watch worn by Pierce Brosnan in the 1995 film, differing only in the use of the red “Seamaster” script on the dial. While aesthetically distinctive as Bond's watch, it is nonetheless a classic example of the Seamaster professional collection of the era, which features many favorites, such as a curved case and a 300-meter water resistance... Product description

Rolex has developed a complex reference number system over the years, and the five-digit era has really gained momentum in recent years. These late 20th and early 21st-century models offer a good mix of vintage details and modern reliability. The reference 14060 builds on a reputation built by the famous ref. 5513: the long-running, dateless, two-dial Submariner of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Vintage details carried over from that great Sub into the 14060 include the subdued size and proportions of the case, the simple dial design, and the perforated lugs.

As offered from 1988 to 1999, the Submariner 14060 features a change in the crown from tritium to LumiNova luminous material. Early examples will patinate like a vintage watch, while later, after approximately 1997, the numerals, hour markers, and hands will remain white. This particular reference 14060 is an extremely rare example... Continue reading
