IWC Schaffhausen has been the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team since 2013. With the elite of motorsport gathered in Florida for the opening day of the Miami Grand Prix, IWC CEO Chris Grainger-Herr and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff announced the result of their latest collaboration. For the first time in their long history of collaboration, IWC has developed an official timepiece for use by the team, including designers, aerodynamicists, trackside engineers, strategists, and mechanics.

"Both fine watchmaking and motor racing are based on precision, craftsmanship, and high-performance engineering. But it's the human factor—the passion, caring, and dedication—that makes the difference between the good and the exceptional. This is perfectly reflected in our long-standing collaboration with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team, and we want to celebrate this partnership with the launch of a new team watch in Miami," explained Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.

The Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition "Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team" (Ref. IW388108) is crafted from lightweight and incredibly strong grade 5 titanium. Titanium is also widely used in automotive engineering to produce highly stressed parts, such as engine valves, because it offers the highest strength-to-density ratio of all metals. Titanium also offers high corrosion resistance. After machining and shot-peening, the surface retains an attractive greyish luster. The distinctive design is completed by a black dial with print and luminescence in the team's signature shade of green. The IWC-manufactured calibre 69385, a chronograph movement in a classic column-wheel design composed of 231 individual parts, is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. Its bidirectional ratchet-wheel winding system provides a 46-hour power reserve.

Two straps for greater versatility

This chronograph comes with two different straps: one made of embossed black calfskin and one made of green rubber. Thanks to the integrated EasX-CHANGE system, the straps can be exchanged quickly and easily at the touch of a button and without the need for tools. The strap options and their ease of exchange make the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition "Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team" a highly versatile sports watch.

A record-breaking team effort

Thanks to the eight championship wins between the 2014 and 2021 seasons, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team holds the record for consecutive constructors' titles. No other team in elite motorsport has won as many consecutive titles. During those winning seasons, the team achieved 111 victories, 232 podiums, 118 pole positions, 81 fastest laps, and 53 one-two finishes from 160 race starts. Behind these achievements is a team of more than 900 professionals, including hundreds of highly skilled engineers. At the team's technology centers—located in Brackley and Brixworth, northwest of London—they design, develop, manufacture, assemble, and drive the championship-winning cars driven by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell on race tracks around the world.

To celebrate this new milestone, both W13 cars will proudly display the IWC logo on the halo at the Miami Grand Prix.

The Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition "Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team" is available exclusively online at IWC.com. The watch can also be registered with the My IWC program to benefit from an extension of the standard two-year international limited warranty to six years.
