Besides boasting an incredible ability to achieve perfect brushed and mirrored finishes, his specialty is watch case restoration, a process that involves adding steel with laser welding and then polishing the excess, thereby restoring dings and dents and leaving the watch looking as if it just came from the factory. It's very rewarding to watch for hours for crazy people like us.

José Pereztroika is an almost mythical figure in the world of Panerai, famous for his forensic ability to uncover mysteries, myths, and truths about the Italian brand. His articles often cause quite a stir in the watchmaking microcosm, and he isn't afraid to take aim at the industry's big dogs. Lately, his barbs have been aimed at reputable auction houses, such as Antiquorum and Christie's, which have been careless or downright fraudulent in their vintage Rolex catalogs, bringing under his magnifying glass (periscope in this case) the minute differences that betray the offender. The closest thing to a detective novel in our watchmaking microcosm.
